Pony day provides the opportunity for children to own a pony for the whole day. They will learn and have lots of fun at the same time. The children are supervised at all times.
The children arrive at 10:30 with a pack lunch and clothing/sun cream suitable for the weather on that day.
They will be allocated a pony to own for the day, whilst mum or dad does the paperwork (contact details, any allergies etc).
Next, it’s grooming and tacking up.
The children then take part in either a riding lesson or a local hack, depending on their ability.
After lunch there will be a non mounted game, such as a treasure hunt or a quiz.
Finally the highlight of the day is the very exciting “Wayside Pony Day Gymkhana”. This is where the children take part in various mounted games. Parents are encouraged to come and support their children and cheer on the teams. The gymkhana is a lot of fun and enjoyed by both the children and parents, but beware it can be a bit noisy.
All children receive a rosette.
Times: 10:30am until 4pm (Gymkhana starts at 3pm)
